Compliance & AML

Payredoo moves money, which makes it a target for people who want to move money quietly. This describes the controls we operate.

Know Your Customer

We verify the identity of every account holder before the full service is available. For individuals that means a government identity document and a selfie check. For businesses it means registration details, tax identifiers and verification of the authorised signatory.

We store the last four characters of an identity document number together with a one-way hash, rather than the number itself. That is enough to detect the same document being submitted twice without holding the full number.

Monitoring

Transactions are monitored for patterns associated with money laundering, fraud and sanctions evasion. Limits apply per transaction and per period, and vary with the level of verification completed. Payments that fall outside expected behaviour are held for review before they settle.

Manual review

Top-ups and outbound payments are reviewed by a person before funds move. A payment is approved, or rejected with the reason recorded. This is deliberate: an automated rail with no human in it is a rail that moves money to the wrong place quickly.

Record keeping

Financial records are held as an append-only ledger — entries are added, never edited or deleted, so the balance can always be reconstructed from its history. Records are retained for the period the law requires after an account closes, and that obligation survives a request to delete the account.

Sanctions

We screen against applicable sanctions lists and will not process payments to or from sanctioned individuals, entities or jurisdictions.

Reporting

Where we are required to report suspicious activity to the relevant authority, we do so. The law generally prohibits us from telling you that a report has been made.

Staff and access

Access to customer data and to payment approval is restricted to staff whose role requires it, and administrative actions are recorded against the person who took them.

Raising a concern
